Frequently Asked Questions

How do I register?

Click on one of the registration tab in the drop down menu. Currently there are classes offered Winnipeg, Carman, Lorette, La Salle, Neepawa, Brandon, Regina, & Saskatoon.

Can I register part-way through a session?

Yes! If the class you are interested is not full you can register your child at a prorated rate for the duration of the session. Our online payment processing program automatically adjust the cost of each class as the weeks go by so the prices that are reflected are the prorated rates. Our website will not let you register in a session if the class is full.

How many participants are in each session?

Our max session size is 15 participants for our regular classes and 20 for our FUNdamentals Clinics and Summer Camps. We try to stick to a 1:5 instructor/participant ratio.

How many coaches per session?

A typical session has 3 to 4 coaches. A smaller session with lower enrollment may only have 2.

Do I participate with my child?

The only parented class we offer is our youngest class, Baby Ballers (10 months old - 2.5 years old). Children in this age group work best with a family member or family friend participating alongside them. Please plan to have one parent per child. Parent participation is strongly recommended for children that are in our Little Ballers classes (2.5 years old - 3.5 years old). If your child is in any of the other sessions and it is absolutely necessary for you to be with them we can make an exception.

Can both parents assist in the parented sessions?

We cannot accommodate multiple people assisting one child as we plan our sessions to include one-parent/guardian per child. You are welcome to invite as many friends and family members to watch our sessions! Recording of entire sessions is not permitted!

How long are the sessions?

Our A typical Little Ballers sessions are as follows:

  • Fall Sessions - 10 weeks

  • Winter Sessions - 10 weeks

  • Spring Sessions - 8 weeks

  • Summer - 8 weeks

  • JAM Sessions - 4 to 5 weeks (or 10 sessions in 5 days with 2 sessions/day)

  • Athletic Character Camps - 5 days in the summer

Do you offer make-up classes?

We do not offer make-up sessions. If a class is ever cancelled (e.g. driving conditions) or other unforeseen occurrences arise we offer program credits (not a a refund). If you can’t attend a class (e.g. vacation) we do not normally offer refunds or credits for the sessions you miss. The only exception to this policy is serious injury (e.g. broken bone).

What class should I register for if my child ages up during the session?

To simplify things please register your child based on their exact birthday cut off. For example, if your child turns 3.5 in October and the session begins in October and the session begins in September, they should be in the 2.5-3.5 year old group, not the 3.5-5.5 year old group. If your gut is telling you that your child should be in the younger or older age group we can offer some flexibility. However, our flexibility may be limited by enrollment numbers, since our sessions have a cap size and we wouldn’t want to take away another child's chance to join their session's age group. If you aren’t sure what class to register for please contact us at info@littleballersbasketball.com and we will help you find a good fit.

Is this a basketball league?

Our regular classes are not a league! Sessions are planned to encourage development of movement and basketball skills. In fact, there is almost no emphasis placed on scrimmaging in the traditional 5 on 5 style. We play live ‘scrimmagesque’ games with specific objectives, e.g., get the ball past this line, get the ball in the butterfly net, work as a team to score a hoop. We do have another program called Little Ballers League!! Little Ballers and Big Ballers are introduced to 2 on 2, 3 on 3, and sometimes 4 on 4 scrimmages with offense and defense. This program is called little BALLERS League. It is for kids ages 4 to 8 years old and is run out of various locations. Click here to learn more about little BALLERS League.

Can my older child sit unattended on the sidelines or shadow us while I am in a parented class?

We prefer that all children under 12 are supervised by a parent. We are not a licensed childcare facility, so please avoid leaving your children unattended in the facility and/or on the sidelines. If you must leave your child on the sideline, please only do so if they can sit independently without the need for supervision or assistance of any kind for 45 minutes - 1 hour.

Out of what facilities will you run sessions?

Currently our program runs out of community centres, recreation centres or other high quality multipurpose spaces which have access to storage. If you know of any facilities that could accommodate our program we’d love to hear from you.

Can I take pictures/photos?

Yes, but only of your child. Do not post photos to social media without other parents consent. Participants that are shared on our little BALLERS website and social media pages have consented to have their image(s) be shared.

What is your refund policy?

Refunds will only be permitted before the class begins and partial refunds are given when parents register our program past the listed start dates. If you have additional questions or concerns please reach out to us at info@littleballersbasketball.com

What do I wear/bring?

- Little BALLERS practice gear
- A spill-proof water bottle.
 - Non-marking clean and/or indoor shoes with socks.

Please note: Basketball-specific shoes are not required. A supportive running shoe is great. Velcro shoes are recommended unless your child knows how to tie his or her own shoes.

Do you accommodate participants with special needs?

Yes, we absolutely can differentiate instruction with proper planning to assist those with special needs. If you have specific questions or concerns re: your child’s specific needs, please contact us before registering so we can assist you in deciding if little BALLERS is a good fit for your child.
